Published on February 11, 2009, the video examines the process of food production until it reaches the supermarket shelves. While there has been a significant change in the way we eat in the last fifty years, supermarkets still use the image of Agrarian America to sell food products. Fruits such as tomatoes are available in supermarkets all year round thanks to ethylene gas that ripens green fruits that are grown and picked prematurely in different places around the world. The food industry does not want consumers to know the truth about the production process so that it can keep them consuming. The reality is that the food supply chain is characterized by factories rather than farms, abuse of workers and animals, and deliberate concealment of the dangers involved. The responsible multinational corporations not only control the food but also what farmers can say about the health risks involved.

The environmental issues involved are water use and pollution, air pollution, and climate change. The involved multinational corporations conceal these issues by hiding their food production processes. The impact of the environmental issues on the ecological and human communities are health issues, destruction of ecosystems, and a threat to aquatic life. Human communities suffer health issues due to the chemicals used in ripening the fruits and also from the polluted water from the factories that process animal products.
