The “You Eat What They Eat” ad campaign by Ogilvy Advertising Company was launched to create awareness of water pollution (Creative Bloq Staff). The global non-profit-making firm, Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (SSCS), came up with this ad to save the ocean and marine life. The “You Eat What They Eat” ad explicitly sells out the idea of water conservation, but it implicitly triggers people’s emotions to avoid polluting the ocean since it has adverse effects on their health. The “You Eat What They Eat” ad has several features that make it more appealing and convincing to its target audience. A closer look at the fish depicted on the ad reveals that it is not an ordinary sea creature. In particular, it is made of different plastic objects, and that is the reason why it appears like a non-existent animal. The fish has a sharp mouth tip that is shaped like the opening of a bottle. The fins are green, and the position of the tail shows the bottom of the fish. The gills do not look like those of a normal fish since they are handle-like rough surfaces.
