Forests are important for our lives. They not only provide us with fresh air to breathe in but also protect soil from erosion, reduce carbon dioxide and keep the temperature to a minimum (Kranjc, 2012). Deforestation means cutting forests or trees for certain benefits; for example, many people cut plants and trees to build commercial centers and residential colonies, and this causes a lot of problems for living things including human beings. Deforestation increases the amount of carbon dioxide in the air, and the survival of living things becomes difficult. Forests store carbon dioxide in large quantities, and when they are cut, CO2 gets released in the air and medical conditions like asthma become common.
How does logging affect wildlife and animals?
Logging is the process of cutting trees in order to produce pulp and timber that are supplied to the global markets for constructing furniture and preparing other products like paper (Anete, 2012). The practice of logging is not considered good since it affects wildlife to an extent. Unfortunately, forests are being destroyed at a fast speed, and this has contributed to climate change, making it impossible for animals or wildlife to survive. Unlike human beings, most of the animals are unable to fit themselves to the new environment. When logging takes place, their natural habitats get ruined and this often causes their death. In different parts of Austria and the United States, logging is done regularly and on a large scale, and this has kept many animals from growing in number. Some of them are at the risk of vanishing from the face of the Earth.
What effects logging has on tourism?
The tourism industries of countries like China, Bangladesh, Thailand, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia have been affected due to the practice of logging (Ren & Du, 2012).
