Essay Instructions:

Read the four ppts carefully, focusing on ppts 5 and 6. Then take a closer look at the article I wrote earlier. My previous article was based on the knowledge base of ppt3 and 4. Then customize a romantic topic as required, and write it mainly in accordance with the concepts in5 and 6 ppt and my style of writing. Don't use the concepts I used in the article I wrote before, thank you! Be sure to look at the concepts in 5 and 6 carefully.
This is the request given by the teacher: Pick any topic/theory we have discussed in class and write a paper about it, referencing your own experience/experience of others you know (friends, parents, video clips we have watched etc). Do use new material we have covered since the first paper. Graduate students, please include at least three references from outside scholarly sources.

The Crossroads: Decay Vs. Maintenance
This paper will focus on the relationship decay vs. maintenance theory and its relevance in relationships. Optimizing affectionate behavior helps maintain and strengthen romantic relationships, but neglect, impolite, or insensitive behavior are associated with decay in relationships (Dr. Beatty, 2021). Every relationship has some emotional connection weaken emotional ties weaken the relationship, and especially when there is distrust. Reestablishing emotional ties is one way to strengthen a romantic relationship. I will explain decay and maintenance explain the state of a relationship using the example of Jamie and Nancy.
One way to strengthen the relationship is for the partners to accept the other person and point out this if they are not happy. Jamie and Nancy began dating in the last year of high school, having been friends for some years. When they went to college in Florida, they both kept in touch I would talk with Nancy, who at the time partied more, and she told me that they were going further apart, but she did not know what the problem was. Nancy seems to have second-guessed and did not seek information, and making assumptions is wrong as you fail to appreciate the other person’s input in the relationship.
There should always be signs of affection between couples, but as time passes the time may cool certain gestures, hugs, kisses, and caresses may decrease and thus affects closeness. It is no surprise that the couple seemed to have more arguments in their third year and enjoy life and the relationship less. I assumed that they were talking less because they were dealing with education matters and other personal issues. However, the lack of good communication also meant that there was likely a lack of mutual understanding.
Expressing our feelings and emotions with the other partner is essential to maintain the relationship. To maintain a good relationship, it is important to get used to saying things, and especially it appeared that Nance felt that she was cherished through words and actions. The need for affection is natural, and when the couple’s relationship was weaker, there was less communication and affection (Azhari et al., 2020). Even as Nancy expressed concerns about the lack of close emotional connection like before, she was unwilling to find ways to express her feelings about her expectations.
