The movie focuses on the history of conflicts in Northern Ireland which became a struggle and opportunity to unify this land. The different beliefs, religions, and cultures, coupled with colonialism, created long-lasting friction that is still felt today in their community. The general division of faith paved the way for the clash of cultures and how it has affected modern-day interactions of children in schools and communities. The history is well remembered so that the past conflicts will not be repeated, as the government makes its best effort to create programs that would promote unity and cooperation among the people. The sacrifices of the citizens in the past have brought opportunities for peace, and the distribution of power, so that leaders could organize and manage the country in a better way. However, the conflicts from Ireland’s history have long-lasting detriments, which still plague the modern-day setting of their communities.
The problems arose from the inherited will of the conflicting groups in the past and the division of belief of Catholics and protestants. Efforts have been made to harmonize the community through various programs in education and community building. Shared housing has been created to promote co-existence, and governing bodies have tapped the power of police and military to promote peace and arrest those who threaten order. The legacy of past violence has remained until this day, but many organizations have lobbied for laws and policies to uplift the quality of life in affected communities.
