Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly progressing. From search engines to self-driving cars, the possibility of what AI can do is unlimited. While the technology is promising, it is still in its infancy. The full potential of AI has not yet been realized since it is relatively new. However, due to the promises that AI makes regarding the future, organizations may be forced to adopt it prematurely. The pressure to employ the technology in business may force individuals to use AI to solve a problem that requires something else. Hence, while AI is critical, it raises critical concerns that should be addressed.
Trevor English’s article titled, “Artificial Intelligence is Evolving to Process the World Like Humans” appreciates that while AI is mind-blowing, human intelligence remains unique because of creativity. English appreciates that AI is evolving so fast towards processing the world like humans. However, English demonstrates that AI does not yet process sensory input and emotion. The human brain is capable of making decisions based on emotions and feelings. However, AI does not have that capability yet. Currently, the technology relies on computer input, then uses the data to interpreted patterns and make conclusions. The inability to recognize emotions and feelings makes AI unable to recognize situations. The human mind remains creative, something that AI has not yet achieved. Hence, despite the claims of the technology being huge, it cannot engage in creative activities and recognizing emotions and feelings....
