The film Battle of Algiers focuses on the confrontation between the French colonial authorities National Liberation Front (FLN) of Algeria and in the city of Algiers between 1954 and 1957, and up to the Algerian independence in 1962 (Pontecorvo et al., 2004). The film takes on the side of Algeria, with emphasis on the fight against French colonialism and attempts by the French to avoid the Algerian independence. Despite being sympathetic to eh insurgents the depiction is fair and presents both sides of the conflict, but it also ignores the division within the FLN and the impact of other groups involved in the liberation struggle of the Algerian people. The revolutionary group and people in the Casbah neighborhood of Algiers are contrasted with the French living in the boulevards of the European sections of Algiers.
