The IPCC report indicates that climate change is likely to increase the risks of heat waves and flooding. These climate changes could include an anthropogenic increase in greenhouse gas concentrations and transformations in the frequency and intensity regarding some other extreme weather, for instance, heavy rainfall and flooding. Despite the exposition on the relationship between public perceptions of hot weather and climate change beliefs, there is uncertainty about people’s perceptions of changes in flood risks, how these perceptions change with political affiliations, and the degree to which climate change can lead to flood risk.
Climate experts have identified the role of climate change in the past and future, but such a role of the climate remains elusive when it comes to non-experts. Climate change is psychologically distant ideation among many non-experts because it depicts itself in the future rather than in the present and globally rather than locally.
