The objective of the PowerPoint and video is to harness the previously untapped energy of the Earth's heat. Molten rocks circulate under the Earth's surface, and the heat from this magma may be used to generate electrical energy, also known as geothermal energy. Geothermal energy is classified as a renewable energy source since its supply is limitless, at least in our lifetime. Renewable energy is considered a need in this century due to the threat of climate change. Therefore, to extend life on this planet, I favor the transition away from fossil fuels as our primary source of energy generation and toward renewable energy sources such as solar, hydro, and geo.
However, Cornell University is aware of the heat and pollution that a power plant would produce if it attempted to create electricity from the Earth's heat. That is why, rather than digging a borehole in the Earth and generating energy from it to heat their houses and buildings, they chose to utilize the well's raw heat. The northern hemisphere's nations have a strong need for home heating since it is critical to their existence. And because heat is created by energy in some regions of the country, creating this heat requires a lot of power. This method is relatively easier to do because it does not need to be converted into electricity to produce heat. Still, it is delivered to the consumers' homes fresh from the ground.
