Slavoj Žižek has addressed the issue of trauma which is explained as a violent intrusion by something which is unexpected and that the subject can no longer integrate (Žižek, 2009, p.125). Žižek explains Malabou's ideas, where she proposed the change or re-formulation of the psychoanalysis. Lacan's psychoanalytic framework asserts that the unexpected intrusions which act as external shocks owe their impact on how they influence and already existing traumatic psychic reality. Both Žižek and Freud have different views about the psyche. Žižek supports that what forecasts the external traumatic event also contributes to the impacts it does on the subjects. On the other side, Freud's approach is that when one is confronted by the external event and not ready to accept its destructive effects, then it can destroy the victim's psyche. Additionally, Freud also examines trauma or eternal events from two conditions; mourning and melancholia. He asserts that mourning involves conscious and regular feelings to a loved object and that melancholia includes unconscious feelings towards an object after the loss.

Based on Freud, the external occurrence is not the leading cause of the impact that people experience. However, Malabou’s view is that the accident is the leading cause of change. She explains that accidents can cause destructive plasticity to the subjects who live after the psychic death. She also examines the reflective reversal of the destruction in a different form that is acquired by the destruction itself. According to Malabou, the Freudian ideas about causation may also be applied to Lacanian psychoanalysis (Žižek, 2009, ...
