Introduction
The case presented portrays the aftermath of an explosion that burnt a truck to the ground. What is apparent in the photos is that the ashes and residue of the burn were isolated within and around the truck, with other burnt materials (e.g., jacket and other objects) a few feet away from it. In a statement provided by the firefighters, they said that during the event they were standing by a downed power line, which is a 1000 feet away from the residence. Although their vantage point is a little far away, they are also the only witnesses that somehow had an idea of what could have occurred. Initially, we could deduce that since there are no witnesses that are near the site, then the testaments provided by the firefighters and the pieces of evidence found in the area of the incident would be used as the primary resources for investigating what could have happened.
According to witnesses, the incident occurred at 0400 hours (4:00 am), which is a time when most people are asleep. While a primary analysis of the area would make it difficult to know whether the incident was intended or not, another burnt object only 30 feet away (e.g., jacket) shows that this could be planned. Although it is possible that the jacket was just caught up in the fire, no traces or ashes were found in between the jacket’s place and the car could be found.
