The war on drug policy is among the policy which requires critical evaluation and examination due to the existing issues and increased drug-related problems. The origin of the policy is dated to 1960, after former American president Nixon established a task force to reduce drug-related problems that were gaining momentum (The War on Drugs, 2021). The formulation of the policy targeted the elimination of illegal drugs by using specific strategies such as penalties, incarceration, and strict law enforcement by different agencies. However, increased cases of drug-related crimes, especially in the last decade, is a critical legal concern that needs timely intervention by evaluating the outcomes and the impacts of the war on drug policy. The paper considers industry standards, data collection, outcomes, and improvements in evaluating the war on drug policy.
