The purpose of the program is to develop the following warehouse store keeping competencies: warehouse function (including how to ensure good customer service and physical security through technology and technology), stock holding (including the reasons and costs of holding stock, how to control and reduce holding costs, as well as product knowledge as relates to traceability and stock rotation), stock recording (including how to improve stock accuracy, data collection, and transfer methods, receipts and issues procedures, as well as barcoding & RFID systems), and health, safety and environmental issues (including codes of practice, accident reporting, and environmental issues) (Indeed.com, 2022). Mentoring is considered the best method for helping staff after off-the-job training for warehouse storekeeping because it facilitates employee development in an empowering and non-positional manner (Ellinger et al., 2003). The stakeholders involved in the mentoring program are the human resource officer, warehouse managers, and staff: all stakeholders will be informed of their roles via email.
This mentoring program will take two weeks to complete. The number of active mentoring relationships will measure success, number of hours mentoring, number of goals achieved, mentor and mentee personal satisfaction assessments, employee engagement and satisfaction scores, performance ratings, and participation levels. The human resource officer will coordinate the mentorship program, which will allocate resources, including space for meetings, learning materials, and scheduled time for meetings. Mentors (warehouse managers) will be matched to mentees (staff) using a matching survey that employs an algorithmic style to remove biases and the burden of manual selection.
