Introduction
Human trafficking has always been a pressing issue that went uncontrolled despite massive efforts to set in motion overtime for its containment. Traffickers have organized networks through which they operate secretly. Several crimes involving coercive commercial use or abuse of people can be placed under the umbrella of trafficking mainly including sexual slavery, sexual exploitation, forced labor, and forced marriages (Purkayastha & Yousaf, 2018). It is the trade of humans engaging all age groups and genders though women are more susceptible to the types involving sexual purposes, including forced marriage (Winterdyk, 2019). Despite plentiful resources directed towards tackling the issue, the statistics about its increase and spread are appalling emphasizing the need for even stricter and more organized measures. Trafficking has lifelong psychological dents on its victims that can be reduced, to a significant extent, by providing comprehensive care that is aimed at reducing the sense of victim's loneliness and assuring them of being an essential part of this world.
Types of Human Trafficking
A few common types of human trafficking include as follows:
Forced Labor
This practice involves the unlawful supply of people to be used as labor without their consent. Victims of this type of trafficking are supposed to work for an extended hour under unfavorable conditions for their forced employers who can be termed as traffickers. Victims remain under constant threat to themselves or their families if they refuse to serve their traffickers. The threats that are generally keeping forcing them to fulfill the demands of their traffickers range from destitution, violence, assassination, and intolerable harm to their family (Winterdyk, 2019). To avoid undesired circumstances, they have to continue to put the commands of their lords into practice.
Sexual Slavery
It is one of the most frequent types of trafficking that is often seen making the headlines. The traffickers use the victims to satisfy their lust. Traffickers mostly find women and children fit for this category of crime (Winterdyk, 2019). Women and children are usually considered a natural and desirable target for this type of traffickers. Traffickers may force their victims into prostitution that they can use to draw affluent lecherous clients to their secret hubs.
Forced Marriages
It is another type to which women are critically susceptible. Traffickers provide their clients with spouses, who are the victims of their crimes, in return on handsome fortune. These forced marriages take place at secret places generally without the consent of the spouses provided by the traffickers (Winterdyk, 2019). The nature of this type of trafficking is much similar to the nature of sexual slavery because spouses have to spend their time the same as in prison against their will with their forced husbands (Winterdyk, 2019). Usually, the foremost motive behind a forced marriage is the satisfaction of sexual desire.
