On August 13, 2018, at 09:21, SA Fox Molder contacted our company for imaging a computer system while conducting their search warrant. Windows® Vista Ultimate was installed on that computer as the primary operating system, and SA Fox Molder requested a forensic examination in order to collect enough evidence from the hard drive of the target computing device. We were told that the suspect might be charged for fraud based on the data we collect and evidence we provide to SA Fox Molder. They asked us to submit a comprehensive forensic report along with a detailed examination so that they could proceed with possible criminal charges and civil litigation.
I was asked to check the desktop of the computer as part of the Faraday case, and I found that SA Molder’s technical staff had turned it off to prevent further problems while serving the warrant. It took me some days to carefully evaluate everything and to prepare an initial report. On August 16, 2018, at 10:11, I started the forensic acquisition process of the desktop of the target computer. Before the imaging could be started, I keenly checked the computer and took some photographs, documenting the possible identifiers (such as serial number, model, brand name and others). In addition, I paid attention to its markings and visible damages and photographed those things as well while maintaining the chain of custody forms. Two days later, on August 18, 2018, at 11:20, I used the sterile storage media (an examination medium) that was said to have been wiped forensically. I cross-checked everything before submitting the screenshots along with a detailed report to SA Fox Molder.
