When a hurricane strikes, the government does not simply stop being operational. Most of the vital structure remains and the functions that are the most important to the continuity of the system. it is these elements of continuity that requires companies and even governments to formulate disaster recovery teams (Anderson, 2017). These are part of the staff that work at the organization, however they are given special training to enable them to facilitate the continuity of the system processes when any form disaster strikes (Tittel, 2017). Disaster recovery involves a number of tools, policies and procedures that help with enabling recover and/or continuity of the vital infrastructure and systems following human induced or natural disasters. There are a number of roles that are played by any disaster recovery team. At the very top is the disaster management team chairperson (Hight, 2017). This is the person/s who are responsible for assigning research, development and even the implementation in reference to the disaster management plan. It is also the responsibility of the chairperson to provide quality leadership and administration. The chair oversees all the organization’s processes and operations until normalcy returns. Then there is the disaster management team coordinator. These are charged with the mandate of creating the disaster management plan and implementing the decisions that come from the chairperson (Hight, 2017). The last group is formed of the disaster management team departmental/office leaders along with service vendors.

There three main phases that for the procedures which would be used in an IT setup (DisasterRecovery.org, 2017). The first phase is the data collection, then plan implementation and testing and lastly monitoring and evaluation.
