Equal Rights Amendments
The Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) is a new proposal to the US Constitution that ensures equal legal rights to all citizens of this country irrespective of sex. The Equal Rights Amendment would place protection directly in the American Constitution for females and other oppressed genders (Barnett, 2018). The 14th amendment was passed and given citizenship to "all people born or naturalized in the USA," including the newly released former slaves (McClellan, 2019). It also prohibits the refusal or "rejection of equality before the law by any person of "life, freedom or possessions without due process of law."
Both the Equal Rights Amendments and 14th Amendments protect rights and upheld equality as a constitutional value throughout the nation. They also give both men and women who are United States citizens the right to vote.
