Difference between the Republic under Jefferson and Jackson
Thomas Jefferson reigned through a period of various visions that were never fulfilled during his ruling. The Americans elected the leader anticipating changes that he could never accomplish. The leader envisioned the state into a nation of small independent farmers that were never achieved and various limits in the federal government and the army but the citizens continued suffering in the prevailing leadership in his ruling (US History and Government, 2020). Land ownership remained in the hand of the rich individuals in the country. “The central bank was also established and more became centralized More power became centralized in the federal government, a national bank was established, Jefferson himself added the Louisiana Purchase doubling the size of the nation.” (US History and Government, 2020) On the contrary, Jackson emerged with a different type of leadership. The President distrusted the central bank and recognized the small scale farmers, including the people who were not landowners. According to Jackson, these groups had voted for him and he had to create a public persona by establishing their worth. The humble beginning established by the president made him a frontiersman in recognizing and appreciating the citizens that had voted him into leadership (US History and Government, 2020). Jackson implemented the agrarian Republic envisioned by Jefferson in America.
Causes of the changes in the American Republic
Jefferson was involved in slavery during his ruling era. The leader recognized slave trade at his first heaves of reigning, leading to a great disappointment to the people who had elected him hoping for a change in the harsh slavery that was going on in America (Berman, 2015). However, it’s ironic that Jefferson termed the act as an abominable crime later on in his ruling era.
