American anti-slavery association, founded in 1833, attracted thousands of exhorting agents and a variety of printed materials. As the revolution War was ongoing, movements were developed to eliminate slavery by the abolitionist laws passed in most of the Northern states. Mostly, these states had a bigger percentage of able labor than those in the south (Barringer, 1999). They put an end to slavery, some with steady systems that managed to keep slaves free.
Several abolitionists managed to unite and form antislavery societies in the 19th century. These groups held meetings and seminars, sending appeals with a lot of signatures to the Senate. They prohibited merchandise made with slave toil, offered uncountable dialogues for their reasons and printed massifs of literature. Sometimes, violent means were encouraged by individual abolitionist to end slavery (Library of Congress, 2017).
Earlier in 1833, American Antislavery movement was fundamentally disorganized. Local societies such as Pennsylvania Abolition Society founded in 1789 and New York City Manumission founded in 1785 were scattered. The American Colonization Society established in 1817 was the first national society led by men in the upper South (Philadelphia, 2014). They were able to attain victory, despite the strong opposition from Abolitionist. Federal and the state were encouraged to adopt a range of antislavery laws by the abolitionist. Political leaders in the Connecticut and Pennsylvania were pressured by the Northern abolitionist to pass gradual emancipation statutes.
