Explain whether you believe the representations of slavery in the visual arts (such as William Blake's illustrations, William Hackwood's cameo, or John Singleton Copley's painting) were more compelling and convincing of the injustices of slavery than the literary representations already mentioned. In your explanations, use specific examples and consider both audience and the content and nature of the work. Identify the literary or art form in modern times that you think is most effective at depicting injustice.

I believe that the autobiographical or fictional accounts by salves were persuasive as they documented their experiences without needing to present the dominant viewpoints. While white authors wrote and produced more works, they were more likely to leave out details on the impact of slavery on the affected people. Wheatley wrote poems like’ On Being Brought from Africa to America,’ focusing on the lives of enslaved blacks when few African Americans could write and a female perspective on slavery and abolition was even rarer.
