The article “Preventing falls and fall-related injuries in hospitals” was retrieved from the PubMed database through the Walden Library. Although the Walden Library interface is not complicated, I relatively struggled with acquiring the right article that addresses my intended topic. However, the struggles were a result of concentrating on one database in the Walden Library and failing to refine my search. As a result, I repeated the search using the words; “falls,” “injuries,” “hospitals,” and “intervention.” These words fully represent how falls can be prevented in hospitals and they are not too narrow or too broad. Furthermore, I was not sure which database has articles that address my intended topic. Therefore, I used Thoreau, a search box on the Walden Library homepage that is used to search multiple databases (Walden University Library, n.d).
