Understanding What Shapes Child Well-Being in Rich Countries
Children's well-being involves improving the lives of young people for the better. That is why the multi-level model of child well-being shows factors that affect children's growth and development.
Answer 1
The multi-level framework of child well-being has seven primary levels. They include outcomes, activities, relationships, networks, resources, policies, and contexts. The model shows factors that significantly influence child development. In particular, there exist numerous things that affect young people when growing. The outcomes level has three primary indicators, which are skills, mental well-being, and physical health. Mental well-being includes things, such as suicide and life satisfaction. When it comes to skills, it involves the ability of a child to make friends, read, or perform mathematical calculations. Physical health includes obesity, mortality, and overweight. The indicators in the activity level are learning, socializing, and playing. Policies are formed at school, health, and household. For instance, there are rules that children must follow at school. When the government makes health to be affordable, they promote the well-being of children. The last level in the model is context, which includes indicators, such as the society, environment, and economy. If the economy is good, people can get jobs without problems, and many children are sent to school, promoting education acquisition.
Answer 2
Some of the indicators where Canada is doing well are reduced suicide rate for children aged between 15 and 19 years, minimum child mortality rate for your people from 5-14 years, high life satisfaction at the age of 15 years, children make friends easily at school, and there exist high proficiency in reading and mathematics at the age of 15 years (The United Nations Children’s Fund, 2020). Additionally, in Canada, children get support from their parents, and the percentage of individuals using safe drinking water is high. In other words, Canadian children enjoy numerous privileges that young people in other countries might not have. The most significant thing is that the community and parents support children’s needs. That is why many young people in Canada lead healthy live...
