Heparin-induced thrombocytopenia is a result of difficulties during therapy for people with heparin hence the low amount of platelets due to the application of different types of heparin. Heparin is the inability of platelets to create blood clots and is used in medical surgeries to prevent risks of blood clots in patients, treat heart attacks and angina. Induced thrombocytopenia appears in two forms: immune-mediated, which causes very little platelet count in the body and is very rare but risky while non-immunized is less dangerous occurs frequently and causes a placid decrease of platelets in the blood. Heparin-induced thrombocytopenia is caused by the activation of blood clotting components in the blood by unusual antibodies and can be cured by inhibiting or halting heparin treatment.

Hirudin and argatroban are used in the treatment of induced thrombocytopenia as direct inhibitors. They have been approved for the treatment as they have been dimmed safe for use on patients with thrombocytopenia issues. Bivalirudin is also a common inhibitor of the disease, and just like the rest, that is, Hirudin and argatroban have been passed as a safe inhibitor against thrombocytopenia. According to the society of thoracic surgeons (2007) Bivalirudin has treated over 40,000 patients with approval from food and drug administration. World literature shows there is extensive use of Hirudin as a safe inhibitor during cardiopulmonary bypass (Rubens, Sabloff, Wells, Bourke, 2000) while argatroban is also safely used instead of heparin in surgeries (Smythe, Stephens, Mattson & Koerber, (2005). One can correctly conclude that these three drugs are safe to use to inhibit the diseases caused by heparin treatments.
Effectiveness in suppressing thrombin in the blood is highly effective in all three alternatives of heparin. Lepirudin is effective in inhibiting the primary factor of thrombin, which is V, which causes the formation of the prothombinase complex. For instance, the blood test results for a 65-year-old are tested after administration of Hirudin and a low count of platelets was found (Rubens, Sabloff, Wells, Bourke, 2000). Bivalirudin is also effective with high rates of inhibiting factors, for example, a case study conducted on forty-eight patients was done with the administration of Bivalirudin in their systems. The results showed a shorter treatment time for patients with little bleeding rates (Bain& Meyer, 2015). The same test shows that argatroban has the same effectiveness as the others both therapeutically and time-wise.

These three drugs have been synthetically manufactured to help in fighting the disease that arises from the difficult treatment of other illnesses using heparin. Argatroban is recommended for patients with renal failure because it is eliminated from the body with a half-life of 40-50 minutes. The half-life required for the elimination of Bivalirudin is 20-30 minutes of an active renal function and up to 60 minutes with renal dysfunction.
