In the article “From the top-down: Transformational leadership considerations for health care organizations,” the authors argue that nurse leaders can influence critical issues in healthcare through transformational leadership (TL) (Sanner-Stiehr & Reynolds Kueny, 2017). High turnover among registered nurses (RNs) increases healthcare costs and lowers patient outcomes. The authors claim that using effective leadership can decrease nurse turnover because of increased job satisfaction. The article adds that nurse leaders who employ transformation leadership positively influence job satisfaction and improves RNs experience in the workplace. TL is effective because it cultivates an individual relationship between leaders and followers. Transformational leaders also have high emotional intelligence, are inspirational, and influence the team.
