When one realizes that someone else plagiarized their work, the first thing they should do is stay calm and avoid overreacting. Overreacting makes someone look immature and unprofessional. One must remain calm in the entire process. The next step should involve confirming whether or not there is a reference to your work. This will help you understand whether it was an honest mistake, or they did it on purpose. In this case, the plagiarism it too much that keeping quiet about it is not an option.
As the first step, it is essential to establish contact with the classmate and ask them to inform the event organizers that that material is not originally his. The classmate should also take it down and, if possible, submit their original content. If this fails to work and the classmate ignores all the effort to make things right, send them a cease letter informing them that you will take them to court if they don't want to contact the organizers of the competition and own up then ask them to take the article down or acknowledge the original writer of the article. The classmate is likely to concede if they fear that they will face the wrath of the court. Furthermore, if the classmate does not give in, consider going to a court of law. The court is likely to give a fair ruling and give the justice everyone deserves. People have different emotional intelligence. Some, however, are self-aware and can manage their emotions. This category of people is likely to handle themselves with professionalism. The fact that these people know their self-worth and understand what they deserve means that they will not rest until they get justice. Other people are self-regulatory and have a problem controlling their emotions. However, this category has shown the ability to maintain honesty and integrity, control their feeling, but also are flexible and open to new ideas. It is therefore highly probable that such a person will walk up to their classmate (who did the plagiarism) and confront them with anger and disappointment. They may later reflect and realize they overreacted and decide to let it go.
