The application of simulation in human patients as an instruction technique to optimize outcomes and enhance patient safety provides a platform for allowing nurse students to practice clinical decision making, critical thinking, and psychomotor skills in a regulated, safe environment without subjecting the live patients into probable risks.
The use of technology-enhanced simulation training incorporates computer-based simulators, static mannequins, and high fidelity, as well as training with cadavers or animals. Technology-enhanced simulation provides opportunities for regulated skills practice without necessarily harming the patient (Lapum et al., 2018). Simulation games offer learning instructions and tasks in an engaging, realistic computer-based environment in which nurse students experience direct consequences of their decisions.
