The Role of Technology in Our Lives
It’s safe to say that technology has made our lives easier and better than ever. For example, we now have smartphones to communicate with our friends and family members and the Internet to promote our products, services, goods or businesses. However, technology has made us anxious too and there are so many ways to prove that.
First of all, technology leaves us to wonder about a lot of things that are not present in the real world. For example, smartphones are now used to manipulate and control the world or the people around us. We also use these devices to dive into a world that does not actually exist. As a result, we now show less interest in exploring the real world and want to stay in the world of imaginations, where technology provides us with so many uncertain things and odd ideas. In simple words, we can say that technology makes us anxious and limits our real-world experiences, and this is definitely a big problem that needs to be solved. In one way or the other, it urges us to remain in isolation while making a call or chatting with someone through mobile phones.
In Alone Together, Sherry Turkle can be found saying that humanity is nearing the robotic moments (Turkle 11). This means we have started filtering our companions through machines. I strongly believe that Sherry Turkle’s opinions or thoughts are right.
