Such an activity can help share the results of your efforts and contribute to your success. This week’s Discussion asks you to consider and share strategies for building your portfolio.

A professional portfolio contains selected materials that show an individual’s competencies their expertise as a nurse (Spear, 2016). First, there is a need to plan for professional growth and development in nursing by identifying personal and professional goals. When this is done there is the identification of relevant documentation of experience, skills and competencies as reflected in the CV or resume and including copies of professional certificates and school transcripts. Other important elements include biographical information, employment history, and professional development activities (Casey & Egan, 2013).
