Social Determinants of Health

Institution:
Social Determinants of Health
The article titled 7 Reasons Why Canada is the Best Country in the World tends to portray Canada as the best country that any individual would like to live. However, this article seems to be influenced by the wealthiest Canadians, who according to Raphael (2016), control majority share of Canada’s economy. On the contrary, another article from The Conservation journal is full of criticism about the style of leadership in Canada. The second article does seem to represent majority of Canadians whose wealth is only 30% of Canada’s according to Raphael (2016). However, individuals studying the social determinants of health are likely to view Canada from an economic perspective, thus influencing them to agree more with the second document. This is because the second piece of the article analyzes how social determinants of health affects individual well-being.

Among the issues highlighted, include the bias in terms of spreading the resources. For instance, in the article, the writer indicates that the Canadian government has enacted policies that grant more benefits to economic elites (The Conversation, 2018). This way, the rich who own most of the firms in the country have managed to shift risks to workers as a way of maneuvering the pressure from globalization. Results of shifting the risks to the workers in return have resulted in the stagnation of the workers' income while the economic elite enjoy the fruit of improved economy in Canada. The other issue, which is more of a social determinant of health that the writer highlights, is the connection...
