An experience that I encountered when completing a needs assessment involved long patient waiting times. Patients decried spending a long time waiting to be served, and some of them whose condition was not serious left for other hospitals. There was a need to streamline the facility's operations to hasten the service provision towards the patients.
The needs assessment process involved several steps towards identifying the problem at the health facility. The first step I took was to define the objectives of the needs assessment procedure (National Institute for Children's Health Quality, 2021). The second step was to assess the resources and the capacity. The third was to identify the data sources and reflect on the results obtained. The needs assessment procedure has several difficulties that may bar identification of the problems within the organization. However, budget constraints and time factors were the main challenge (Ellis, 2018). Assessing a hospital requires proper resources because of the complex nature of the system.
