The American Cancer Society (ACS) offers emotional support, information support and day-to-day help to the cancer patients. Through the ACS's National Cancer Information Centre (NCIC), the patient can access guidance on 24 hours basis through live chat or phone calls to the support team. The support team involves cancer specialists who are rich in information regarding cancer (Oeffinger, et al., 2015). They can help the patient make care and treatment decisions and provides answers to the patient's queries about cancer and potential side effects of treatments. Also, ACS educates the patients through their specialists via live chat and phone calls. Education if further provided to the patients through the publications produced by the organization on the education books, brochures, and professional journals. These resources contain specific cancer types, how to cope with each type and the prevention measures that a patient can adopt. There are also some other services offered by ACS which can be recommended to cancer patients. (Oeffinger, et al., 2015) These are patient lodging services, rides to treatment and reach to recovery. Lodging services enable a patient to secure a place where they can access treatment when their best hope for treatment is located elsewhere from where they are currently residing (Oeffinger, et al., 2015). Rides to treatment enable the patients to seek treatment even when they cannot be able to drive themselves to the medical facilities while reach to recovery services connects the patients with other patients who have had the same problem so as to guide on how they coped up with the condition and live a better life (Oeffinger, et al., 2015).
