Clearly, diagnosis is a critical aspect of healthcare. However, the ultimate purpose of a diagnosis is the development and application of a series of treatments or protocols. Isolated recognition of a health issue does little to resolve it.
In this module’s Discussion, you applied the Clark Healthy Workplace Inventory to diagnose potential problems with the civility of your organization. In this Portfolio Assignment, you will continue to analyze the results and apply published research to the development of a proposed treatment for any issues uncovered by the assessment.

Review the Resources and examine the Clark Healthy Workplace Inventory, found on page 20 of Clark (2015).

Reflect on the output of your Discussion post regarding your evaluation of workplace civility and the feedback received from colleagues.

Introduction
The Healthcare sector is a demanding and stressful sector to work in because of its nature. It deals with saving human life and ensuring, which is not an easy task because it needs utmost concentration and perfection. This way, workers become stressed and extend stress to their colleagues resulting in shallow or unhealthy communication. Nonetheless, pressure should never affect patient care because we should manage our emotions and stress. Work ethics guide us to interact with our colleagues and perform our work professionally because we swore to deliver safe and quality patient care services. Organizational leaders should always promote a professional working environment that empowers nurses. At the same time, nurses should learn skills in addressing incivility.
Part 1: Work Environment Assessment
My workstation scored 60 points on Clark's Healthy Workplace inventory. This score is relatively healthy. My workplace was among the best stations to work. The nurses, management, and other employees always had the best rapport, boosting patient care performance. Communication was best as any nurse could raise a concern, and the administration addressed the issue accordingly without any problems. However, a year's changes brought in a new chief executive officer, CEO, and the whole situation flipped around. This led to the negative results on the work environment assessment.
Most of the employees respect the mission, and they always work towards achieving it through collaborations, brainstorm, and teamwork. The organization also supports the employees through mentorship programs besides giving the employees an avenue to develop professionally. It also pays the employees a good salary and allowances.
However, the most significant problem that exists is broken and crippled communication channels. There is a considerable rift between the management and the workers because of the communication process. The new regime has crippled the organization's communication system with an excuse for saving certain situations. For example, the new management scrubbed off the weekly briefing. The administration made several changes and failed to communicate the reasons or even alert the workers about the actions. The lack of communication has negatively affected the working environment making it hostile because the staff feels that they are not valued. As a result, several people quit the work leaving many crucial gaps that needed attention.
What surprised me the most is the importance of communication in work civility. The staff received everything they needed, but lack of communication still affected the organization's operations. Communication is a significant motivator that raises the morale of employees. Civility is a formal politeness and courtesy in behavior (Griffin & Clark, 2014). Before conducting the assessment, I believed that communication and teamwork were essential factors for a healthy work environment, which the assessment confirmed.
