Healthcare is a critical component when it comes to the lives of human beings. The medical industry also appreciates the importance of the healthcare industry within societies. Human beings' lives are faced with challenges such as health pandemics posing a threat to many lives. Like any other pandemic, health pandemics call for the healthcare sector to put up stringent measures and strategies in combating health challenges. Properly formulated and implemented health support systems are critical in offering support to the healthcare industry. In instances where the world has faced health pandemics, healthcare practitioners can provide an opportunity to assess preparedness for health issues and challenges. Pandemic preparedness and the importance of frontline health workers are vital concepts that determine success in healthcare planning.
Pandemic preparedness is an aspect that calls for forecasting and attempts to predict the future in the healthcare industry. Preparations for pandemics can be through a thorough assessment of previous health pandemics in the history of humankind. After studying historical health pandemics, players in the health industry can guide the formulation of counter-strategies. Hamele et al. (2018) noted that proper planning strategies which are systematic are essential in averting possible health crises (p.344). COVID-19, for instance, is a current health pandemic that has rattled healthcare systems across the globe.
