Dental hygiene is an essential aspect of the health of individuals. In the case study, I learned various aspects and competencies that are aimed at preparing students for the work environment. In a case study, there is necessary information provided that assist in the evaluation of a patient. This equally assists in establishing the dental condition or status of the person. When this information is available, I can decide on the most appropriate care approach to enhance the oral hygiene of the patient. Solving case studies requires a thorough understanding of the patient's signs or symptoms, current medications, dental history, and medical history. This allows the utilization of evidence-based approaches in recommending the type of toothbrush, the procedure to brush the teeth, and dentifrices that would be suitable for the specific patient.
During the assignment, there are numerous challenges that I experienced. First, the case study required applying critical thinking skills to come up with the most appropriate interventions. In this regard, there was a need to undertake comprehensive research through the internet. One of the main challenges I experienced was an internet connection. I was unable to connect with my group, making things more difficult. I also experienced challenges in completing the dental hygiene care plan because we did not have sufficient time to go over it in class.
