The dying process is undoubtedly accompanied by pain. Death, the result of dying is not a worry to many, but the process. The pain and thought of physical anguish in ones’ body is the worry most people have. Miller advises that healthcare workers, like nurses, have a role to play in the system, when dealing with people who are dying (Ted Talk 2013). The forces of death are larger than patients and calls for the roles of external caregivers to help them through. It is the unifying factor between the caregiver and receiver, proving the vital role of the existence of healthcare systems. If we as nurses did this, it would reveal the idea that we are mutually bearing the pain to either stop it or accept it, for the case of patients. With this information engraved in their brains, caregivers would be able to discuss how their treatment would be, so they do not experience much pain during their death.
