Introduction
Psychotherapy is an integral part of the treatment of patients, especially of those who need mental help. It can be conducted in separate groups based on age, gender, and other factors. Here, we conducted psychotherapy in a mixed group of children and adolescents who participated in a counseling session. This paper aims to evaluate the outcomes of the treatment.
Patients’ Description
One of the children in the group has shown gradual changes. Initially, the child was not speaking, and he was reluctant to make eye contact with everyone. The child usually looked down or stared blankly at the ceiling or the wall. He also preferred to sit at the corner or anywhere where nobody else would notice him. Aside from being quiet, the child is reluctant to show any emotion. It seemed like he would like to keep everything to himself and failed to open up even to a single person within the group. After several days of counseling, this child began to speak with his seatmate. He always chose to sit beside this particular person and refused to sit somewhere else, even during activities that require a different partner. The child also began to display various emotions, as seen in his facial expression, such as joy, dismay, and sometimes, anger. However, up to the present, the child failed to verbalize his feelings.
Another patient who shows progress is an adolescent. Initially, the adolescent was noisy and refused to listen to whoever was speaking, even when the speaker was a clinician. The adolescent was always mindful of his surroundings and would always meddle in other people’s business even when it was a quiet time.
The Client Without Improvement
One of the children without improvement has continuously shown aggressive behavior. The child displayed tantrums in verbal and physical form, where he spoke foul words and threw papers and pencils to the ground when something does not go his way. This continued despite counseling the client.
Therapeutic Approach
Two therapeutic approaches will be used for this group of patients since a mixture of people with varied characteristics. The two approaches will be used separately, while the group will be categorized based on the members’ gene...
