Compare two organizational readiness tools. Identify the tool you selected and explain why it is most appropriate for assessing your organization.
The two organizational readiness tools to be compared here include the Prevention Program Assessment and the Organizational Readiness to Change Assessment tool. These two tools assess different things within an organization. The Prevention Program Assessment tool seeks to address or determine how ready an organization is through four phases. These phases include the knowledge, persuasion, decision, implementation, and confirmation phases. The goal is to assess the evidence-based practice or innovation’s effectiveness and sustainability in an organization. On the other hand, the Organizational Readiness to Change Assessment tool seeks to measure or question the proposed evidence-based practice or innovation’s viability, an organization’s ability to absorb and support the change.
The tool selected is the Organizational Readiness to Change Assessment tool. According to Helfrich et al. (2009), this tool was designed to “implement evidence-based changes in clinical practice.” The tool’s main use is diagnostic, meaning that it delves deeper into a proposed intervention and inquires of its viability and appropriateness in an organization, and therefore, suited to assess my organization.
