Nevertheless, the ACA has greatly impacted the nursing practice as it influenced the roles and responsibilities of nurses through the reconceptualization of the role of nurses, expansion of the nursing faculty, examination of innovative ways to solve healthcare-related issues, and attraction and retainment of nurses in various care contexts (Institute of Medicine, 2011).
The ACA ensures nurses practicing within the scope of their training. Various historical and regulatory policies have barred nurses from performing their duties fully. The ACA ensures that the government promotes effective reforms by collecting and disseminating practices from over the nation, reinforcing their adoption. These reforms are also intended to curb the great turnover incidences of newly certified nurses by supporting residency programs predominantly in major health systems and facilities. The ACA reforms also advocate for the expansion of the nursing faculty by achieving higher educational levels. This is intended to ensure that the growing complexities within the hospital and community health setups are well-catered. Nurses are presently beseeched to satisfy basic care tasks and to assist patients in managing lifelong illnesses. Since they are expected to be utilizing various technological means and advanced information management policies, they ought to be empowered with the much-needed repertoire in interpretation and integration to improve the effectiveness of healthcare.
In addition to that, the Affordable Care Act encourages nurses to fully partner with practitioners and different caregivers in redeveloping medical care in the US.
