Despite these and other challenges, however, evidence-based approaches are increasingly used to inform health policy decision-making regarding causes of disease, intervention strategies, and issues impacting society. One example is the introduction of childhood vaccinations and the use of evidence-based arguments surrounding their safety.
In this Discussion, you will identify a recently proposed health policy and share your analysis of the evidence in support of this policy.

Review the Congress website provided in the Resources and identify one recent (within the past 5 years) proposed health policy.
Review the health policy you identified and reflect on the background and development of this health policy.
Post a description of the health policy you selected and a brief background for the problem or issue being addressed. Explain whether you believe there is an evidence base to support the proposed policy and explain why. Be specific and provide examples.

The creation of a better medical policy is necessary for any government. Each administration has the responsibility of ensuring that it offers the best medical solution to the people. Creating affordable care is a significant contribution any government can make among its citizens because a healthy population is more productive than people who struggle with quality healthcare delivery. Based on this understanding, the American Patients First, an evidence-based policy, was introduced in America.
The American Patients First is a policy introduced by President Donald Trump to reduce out-of-pocket costs and drug prices. The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (2018) asserts that the Act's first blueprint was unveiled on May 11, 2018, reducing the prescription drug prices. The blueprint mainly focused on solving four significant challenges facing the American drug market. These challenges include; the drugs' high list, the arising customers' out-of-pocket price, lack of latest bargaining tools leading to overpayment in government programs, and free-riding on American innovation investments.
The four American health market problems prompted the Department of Health and Human Service (HHS) to think of the best solution. The key strategies to cause change were creating better negotiation methods, reducing out-of-pocket costs, improving competition, and introducing lower list prices (The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, 2018). The team finds the best way of implementing the Policy is through the phase-to-phase operation. The first phase was a directive from the President to HHS for immediate action. The second phase was HHS's action toward ensuring the Policy's success, while the final phase was the presentation of the initiatives for solving the challenges to the President.
