It is a disease that affects the body’s control over sugar levels. It can be asymptomatic, but it frequently presents with frequent urination, especially at night, weight loss without effort, always hungry and thirsty, dry skin, fatigue, and tingling on hands and feet (Sapra & Bhandari, 2021).
The Role of Insulin
Insulin is a hormone used to treat DM. It is usually injected subcutaneously into the abdominal area. The body acts to absorb the drug and to eliminate it efficiently after it has done its actions. The following factors will hasten its absorption: 1) Exercising the injection site within an hour after administration.; 2) Massaging the injection site.; 3) Higher temperatures. Conversely, the following delay it: 1) Hypertrophied areas; 2) Larger doses; 3) Inadequate mixing of insulin suspension (Donner & Sarkar, 2015).
