Step 1: Experience
As a registered nurse working in the orthopedic rehabilitation unit, my role has been the most satisfying part of my life. I have been equipped with problem-solving skills, critical and creative thinking, and reliance. In the simulation, the occupational therapist requested me to show up in the rehabilitation room to talk about a current incident to one of my patients in the unit, Nina Monture. The occupational therapist and her student attended Nina, who had started showing new and unidentified symptoms. The occupational therapist had not learned that Nina had already been diagnosed with influenza. I asked for more information regarding having known that Nina was being tested for influenza. I talked to the environmental service manager, and we agreed on several issues: deep cleaning and sanitization of the rehabilitation unit. I also agreed to talk to Nina concerning her Influenza status and the necessary precautionary measures to prevent and terminate further virus transmission. I reinforced all precautionary measures and assessed her understanding of the matter. I think and feel that the interprofessional collaboration portrayed in the activity led to effective prevention of further infection transmission.
