Johns Hopkins Hospital is the hospital, which I have selected to use in my essay. It is situated in Baltimore, Maryland, in the United States. It is used both as a teaching hospital and biomedical research institution of the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine; it was established by philanthropist Johns Hopkins in 1889. The hospital has a mission statement, to advance patient care, education, research, and continue to change the course of modern medicine (Johns Hopkins Hospital, 2017). Where its main aim is to make sure they improve the community health and setting up high quality standards of patient care to all their clients in preventing, diagnosing and treatment of human sicknesses. Making sure that they provide facilities and amenities which advocate for high quality care is also included in their mission. Additionally, in order for the hospital to provide quality services, it has to ensure that it appeals and assists physicians and other health care professionals who have the best traits and skills.
Magnet designation is the ability of the organization to attract and retain its employees. Johns Hopkins Hospital being one of the best hospitals in the United States shows that the nurses who work there are motivated and this gives them an opportunity to excel in their profession. From what they have stated as their mission, attracting and supporting health care professionals is not left behind, hence this clearly shows they have magnet designation.
