Obamacare: An Effective Healthcare Reform

No major changes were made in the healthcare industry of the United States since 1966 when Medicare and Medicaid were introduced. At that time, the healthcare costs were steadily rising in America and Canada, and people who required medical insurance coverage were being ignored or denied. Various attempts were made to implement a proper healthcare reform but all in vain. Finally, in 2008, Barack Obama ran for President of America for the first time. One year later, he revealed that health would be one of his top priorities and set Congress to operate a healthcare reform named as Obamacare. As part of this program, Barack Obama allowed Americans to get easy access to medical insurance, without any penalty. The initiative benefited old-age people as well as poor, needy and unemployed men across the state (Bagley, 2017).
