Case #2 – Mr. P.
In order to deliver better healthcare and efficient treatment for Mr. P., the best approach would be to make an initial assessment for him. From there, an analysis of his primary illness and other symptoms should be made. During this analysis, a strategic treatment should be planned, through prioritization of his most immediate needs as compared to the minor ones. As stated in his case, Mr. P. is diagnosed with both Cardiomyopathy and Congenital Heart Failure (CHF). As characterized by the weakening of the heart due to its structure becoming “stretched”, Congestive Cardiomyopathy poses a lot of sever risks especially when the heart comes to the point where its muscles fail to pump blood (heart failure) CITATION Colnd1 \l 1033 (Columbia University - DoS, n.d.). Thus, in the case of Mr. P. it is crucial to follow the standard pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments which are required by the physician. These treatments should include “lifestyle changes, medications, and continual care” CITATION Colnd1 \l 1033 (Columbia University - DoS, n.d.), with the first one – lifestyle changes – aimed at helping him manage his polypharmacy. After prioritizing the patient’s most immediate needs, his minor and other symptoms must then be treated. And, since his other symptoms also has a high probability of being related to his primary disease, these symptoms must also be given attention.
