The article focuses on the mediating role of emotion regulation in the relationship between PTSD and self-rated health among urban traumatized African American adults. The study used self-report measures to assess PTSD symptoms, emotion regulation, and self-rated health among 203 participants (Carter & Powers, 2019). The results showed that emotion regulation mediated the relationship between PTSD and self-rated health, suggesting that individuals with better emotion regulation skills reported better self-rated health outcomes (Carter & Powers, 2019).
