True motility is an organism’s change in its position from the original position that is spontaneous and independent whereas in the Brownian movement it will not change its position. Brownian motion is the random movement of particles suspended in a medium like a liquid or a gas and Brownian motion is false movement.
2. What morphological structure is responsible for bacterial motility?
Flagella allow progressive and directional locomotion (Granato, 2019).
3. Why is a wet preparation discarded in a disinfectant solution or biohazard container?
Wet preparation is discarded in disinfectant solution or biohazard container to kill the infectious living organisms. This is necessary to maintain laboratory safety as wet mount contains living organisms.
4. What is the value of a hanging-drop preparation?
Hanging drop preparation is seldom used, but it is used for observing living organisms and is a more complex method than the wet-mount for longer-term observation of living organisms and to get a reliable observation of motility.
5. What is the value of a wet-mount preparation?
Wet-mount preparation facilitates observation of the live specimens moving or in water and is preferred for detecting motile organisms.
