Introduction
Parents’ ability to evaluate their children’s health and providing the required care is significant in reducing the occurrence of health complications in children. However, such ability is depended on the education and training that parents receive from healthcare professionals and institutions. To this extend, I propose an Evidence-Based Practice that provides sufficient education and training to parents of pediatric patients who rely on home health care. Thorough discussions with my preceptor indicate that the implementation of the proposed EBP will directly and indirectly impact the cost of training and education (financial aspect), improvement of the patient’s care (quality aspect), and the availability of healthcare professional who will facilitate the training (clinical aspect).
Improvement of the patient’s care (quality aspect)
Under the implementation of the proposed Evidenced-Based Practice, improvement of the patients’ care is depended on the training and education that parents will receive from the healthcare professionals. Pediatric patients receive poor health care in homes due to poor transition from formal care to informal care (Forster et al., 2019). The poor healthcare care in homes is attributed to the unpreparedness of parents and lack of relevant training and education. However, the main goal of the proposed EBP is to equip parents with the knowledge required to provide the best healthcare to pediatric patients. As a result, the proposed EBP will directly impact the quality aspect by reducing the possibility of complications during pediatric care and improving the overall outcome. However, indirect impact includes frequent training, which increases the total cost incurred.
