Introduction
The following report is based on the peer interview conducted on health professionals in different field. The paper discusses different roles of two health professionals and how their collaborative efforts contribute to the running of activities in a healthcare setting. The first interview is of a nurse while the second one is of a health care professional in the managerial position.
Interview 1: Health care Physician assistant
The first person to be interviewed was a physician assistant. This is a very important person in the work of a physician and she is more of a hand for the physician. The person interviewed works in collaboration with a team of two physicians and her main roles include seeing to it that patients in the hospital are well taken care of after urologic surgery and when they are experiencing urological problems. As a physician assistant, it is often good to plan ahead and have own schedule in the daily running of a clinic. This is because there are always different kinds of appointments in the hospital of which one is expected to do follow up to the more acute ones as he or she moves on to the next (Pauline, 2011). A physician assistant also has to have medical knowledge as they may be called upon to assist the urologist during surgery.
The second question was about professionalism, in the interview professionalism was defined as the ability to stick to the values and standards that one considers required of them in their place of work. It is often natural that people will judge other persons in relation to their appearance, this is because the patient will often judge their confidence in a person when they feel they can trust their physician or nurse. In this manner, appearances are often they first thing they look at. According to the person I interviewed, the professional responsibility of any employee is to the people they are supposed to serve. As a medical practitioner it is always important to ensure that patients are out of harm. Professionalism also means that employees have the responsibility to uphold standards and values of the organisation they work for (Tanaka, Taketomi, Yonemitsu, & Kawamoto, 2016). This is what will guide their decision making process and ensure they have applied the required ethical standards for the organisation. One of the ways to ensure this is by not speaking poorly to patients as well as fellow employees, no matter their rank. The standard operating procedure are also to be followed at all time during the decision making process, this is a show of confidence and ability to provide care whenever there is a feeling of conflict.
On the questions on whether leaders in the organisation are stewards of health care, the assistant physician agreed that she did since the definition of a steward in the traditional manner means the applicati...
