Interprofessional and group conflicts are inevitable in any work environment. In healthcare, conflicts are prevalent in spite of regular training programs for healthcare professionals. Conflict, however, is not undoubtedly damaging, but rather understanding the conflict can lead to better outcomes for all parties. According to Wachs (2008), communication is a critical element of any successful conflict resolution.
In health care, effective conflict resolution is based on collaborative relationships among care providers. Normally, health care providers are required to work closely with each other to achieve better patient outcomes. Conflicts cause unwarranted pressure and poor professional outcomes in health facilities (Brown et al., 2011). If not adequately managed and controlled, conflict in health care lead to increased physical injuries, loss of lives and widespread of communicable and preventable diseases (Almost et al., 2016).
As a nurse practitioner, I am faced with the challenge of falling behind the schedule. Consequently, this lead to longer patients waiting times, decreased number of attended patients and large number unhappy clients. As a result, I decided to talk with Chondra over the issue as it would help me figure out ways to adapt and meet the expectations of my new role. According to Brown et al.
