Many conditions result in sexual health issues, and it is an issue that Is commonly experienced by patients but not talked about as much. These can vary from neurological conditions such as stroke and spinal cord injury to common diseases like diabetes. As medical professionals, the sexual health of the patients is also our concern.
According to studies, the primary care physician has a huge role in identifying and referring patients who are suffering from sexual health issues. However, an identified barrier is the level of communication that is developed which sometimes makes the patients uncomfortable to discuss these matters with their primary care physicians.
